Grace Kraaijvanger : Founder of The Hivery - 010
On this episode of Ballet to Business, Grace Kraaijvanger shares how her history in ballet, experiencing all of the creative energy in the studio, later served as an incredible source of inspiration when founding her business, The Hivery, a co-working + inspiration lab in Mill Valley, CA, as well as the newest hub coming Fall 2019 to San Francisco’s Fort Mason Center!
After attending college in Arizona, Grace moved to the Bay Area for 2 big reasons:
1) She received a new job working in marketing for Oracle
2) She was captivated by Alonzo King’s philosophy and teaching around dance and wanted to continue learning and growing in her dancing in San Francisco
So she headed to the city and hustled for years. Eventually, after starting a family, she reached a big turning point and decided she needed to focus more on her marketing career. However, after some time, she found herself in a bit of a rut, working mostly from her home office and spending time alone. As she reflected back to her years in dance, she realized she was missing a key component that had given her so much joy in the past; a creative, collective community.
So, in 2014, after years of searching and planning, Grace founded The Hivery in Mill Valley, CA. (With the space being a former dance studio, might we add!) It’s an incredible story of patience and perseverance into how Grace attained this coveted space. And now, 5 years later, the story continues to evolve as The Hivery expands into San Francisco this FALL with the opening of their newest location at the Fort Mason Center.
