Growing up in Millis, Massachusetts, Carly grew a determination to pursue ballet from an early age. Training at Boston Ballet and overcoming a brutal achilles injury while at Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet (CPYB), Carly continued to persevere.

She went on to attain her dream job, dancing as a professional Ballet Dancer with City Ballet of San Diego. 3 years in to being with the company, she launched her own photography business, Carly Topazio Photography, as a way to build a portfolio to present to her directors. The company has incredible dancers and she had a vision of how she could help improve their online presence through photography.

In 2018, Carly used her photography skills as another way to help promote her newest venture, founding her dancer bred company, The Rosin Box Project.

In this episode we discuss:

  • facing disappointment in a school’s lack of support to believe Carly could become a professional dancer

  • persevering through overcoming an achilles injury at 15 years old

  • training at Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet

  • how to find the right ballet company for you

  • building her photography business & having to learn the hard way how to pay her taxes!

  • fulfilling an artistic dream in starting the Rosin Box Project, with all the nerves and work that goes along with it!
