State of Bodhi

State of Bodhi
As Emily Adams turned to Yoga to wind down after a taxing day of rehearsals as a Principal Dancer with Ballet West, she realized just how much of her time was spent living out of yoga clothes. Totally relatable! With athleisure on the rise, we all know how functional & comfortable yoga clothes can be, however are our purchases for ‘fast fashion’ the most ethical?
Enter State of Bodhi, Emily Adams yoga-inspired sustainable clothing company that seemlessly bridges the gap between functionality & transparency. While practicing Yoga, Emily befriended a fellow student Marcia, who thought Emily would make a good designer. As the two of them began to sew together, they both realized they wanted to create more than chic, athletic wear. They wanted to create a company founded on compassion.
Being founded on compassion means State of Bodhi puts caring for people and the earth as their top priority. By manufacturing their clothing in the USA, sourcing textiles from certified suppliers, and not letting scraps go to waste, State of Bodhi ensures honesty on all levels of business.
What I love about the business Emily is building is not only the quality of her product, but how State of Bodhi shows up as an integral part of the local Salt Lake City community. Emily has connected with local female entrepreneurs like Caroline Hargraves founder of a cafe called The Daily in SLC, Lillian Bradley a local lifestyle influencer, and Laura Howe owner of Salis Skincare, & brought them in to model for State of Bodhi. Showing that any woman can find themselves in the brand!
In addition, State of Bodhi has held their own pop-up shops around Salt Lake City collaborating with Earthwell Refill, Ember SLC , Salt & Honey Market, and Art Meets Fashion.
Founded in 2016, State of Bodhi may still be considered a young company, but in my mind, Emily has created a mature company. I admire how her & her team are taking great lengths to ensure that both their products & their company continue to remain sustainable!
Also, fun fact! Behind the Scenes at State of Bodhi, Emily’s husband Beau is the talented photographer behind these beautiful in studio shots (and a First Soloist with Ballet West), and Emily’s sister, Paige, is integral to the company as well! She models, sews, packages, ships… And just so happens to be a dancer with Ballet West, as well! And is also my sister-in law! :)
