parting from portugal
If someone had told us five years ago that Patty & I were going to be spending a week of vacation time together in Lisbon, Portugal, I probably would have said "really?", laughed a little, & thought nothing more of it. But now I laugh because the seemingly improbable happened. And I've gotten to experience the joy of being pleasantly surprised with the places we may be lead to.
We may not be able to judge the seasons & times we experience in this life, where we go & what we do. But I've learned that having relationships that endure despite distance, years, & crazy time changes is truly, a gift.
So let us rejoice in friendship & recount memories.
[like this: I'll miss waking up to the sun beaming into Patty's apartment as I laid underneath this beautiful, french window]
I shall miss the architecture in Lisbon. It just stops you in your tracks.
I loved admiring the simplicty of this adorable, blue train station as we waited for the bus one evening.
I will miss being able to step foot into any cathedral we may come upon as we walked the streets. I loved how each one had their front door open, almost beckoning visitors to come inside & become inspired.
Admiring the sanctuary & relishing the views.
I will never forget stumbling upon an afternoon of swing one Sunday afternoon.
The stage was set. The setting was sublime. We soaked up the moment as we watched the sun shine through the trees, casting shadows upon that ornate, red church door. The white ceramic tile glistened as the dancers took each step, echoing the music with their movement. And the spectators smiled as they merrily sat perched up on those concrete steps.
And how could I forget the time where we met up with friends & enjoyed an evening at Amouraria.
Where we listened to live music ...
as we lounged in a living room set-up for the streets.
O I will miss your luscious parks, cute cafe's & convenient coffee huts…
your attention to detail, smashing city viewpoints, & overall chill vibe.
"thank you" can't even really do the trick. I will look back & be able to cherish this time all because of you: laughs & raps included.
With that said, follow this girl as she ventures into the blogging world, revealing even more sights & behind the scene looks of life in Lisbon & recipes from home all through the lens of a ballerina.
Although my European travels have come to an end, I look forward to continuing to share from the streets of my california home once again. Europe has certainly inspired me & given me a fresh, new set of eyes & imagination for all things
