I am beginning to understand the purpose behind "rénové" that really thrills me. Yes, I love recreating pieces and making them new, but more than that, I love helping people. There could've been no greater opportunity to discover this purpose until I found out that two of my friends were both in need of dressers. I quickly hit up Craigslist to find some fantastic, unique pieces that I hope they will love & hold on to for a while!
This first dresser came from a couple in SOMA who just had no need of it anymore. I loved the simple, yet classic lines that are then broken up with a cute, finished curve right at the dresser's base. And the key hole in the middle of the top drawer gives it a unique, little flair.
I wanted to give this dresser an overall softer quality for its new home in the Marina. A simple coat of Annie Sloan's "Paris Grey" along with a light spray of metallic paint on the hardware seemed to do just the trick.
My second project was this beautiful, antique dresser from Alamo Square. Sadly the owner said she just couldn't take it with her to her new place. But we were able to find it a new home at my friends fairly new place in Pac Heights.
With this dresser, I wanted to keep more of a masculine feel. I used a light coat of Annie Sloan's "Graphite", while keeping elements of the dark wood coming through in the corners.
A big shout-out to this stud & fellow furniture aficionado, without whom none of this would have been possible.
